Loss

So many losses accumulate throughout our lives.  And it is natural to feel grief in response to each loss.  Frequently the most intense grief is in response to the loss of a loved one or a divorce.

Grief can also be experienced from the loss of a job, a pet or a friendship.  Losses may also be experienced from major illnesses, disabilities, and accidents when our safety and independence is compromised.  Additionally, significant changes in your life such as a move, a job change or retirement can lead to feelings of grief and mourning for your old life.

The length of time it takes for each person to grieve is highly variable.  But when the struggle with loss and grief continues without much improvement, and it interferes with your ability to return to your regular activities, it may be time to see a professional for assistance.
